The Commodore computer is coming back?

I know I am new here, but I wanted to make my first post. I grew up on ancient computer technology (as in today standards) and I always wanted to see a computer system come back. I was visiting /. and found this article: http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/05/12/17/1737225.shtml?tid=126&tid=137.

Long live C=...

Commodore and Amiga have announced comebacks easily five or six times.  Gateway picked up the Amiga name a few years back and announced a comeback that never happened.  Most likely, if it ever does come back, it'll just be a PC with the Amiga name stuck on it.  LAME!

I'll believe it when I see it.

Oops.  I guess I should RTFA before I respond.  From the article...

Quote:
The Amiga, Commodore's onetime PC brand, has had its own decades-long history as fans tried to preserve both the computer's operating system and brand despite the lack of strong corporate backing."

For what it's worth, my very first PC was an Amiga.  I would love to see Amiga make a return to the market.

How about returing to an old OS.   I have a networking class at my high school, and just for fun were trying to make a 'live' Windows 3.1 CD.  How cool is that.

My only thought is, why does it crash less than Windows 98.

No Stick we'd have to call it something like Window 3.1.....+ or Windows 3.1 TO THE EXTREME!

Also, Vendex, step right up and introduce yourself...no need to be shy.  Same questions as everyone else: who are you?  where ya from?  How'd you find us?  What govt agency you work for?  The usual.

If they revive Commodore, I hope they get a new marketing department.  There's an old joke about their marketing staff:  If Commodore bought KFC, they'd rename it "Warm, Dead Bird."

I am a computer G33k. My very first computer was a Commodore Vic 20 with a tape drive and a 300 Baud modem and a subscription to QuantumLink (no not the old TV show). I live and compute in the big town of Marcellus, Michigan. I work with b0b and he is the one who shown me this cool forum.

I now have a small network in my house and it keeps growing. The network includes 4 desktops, 1 laptop, and 1 server. All connected by Gb NICs and one Dlink Gb swith. Inturn they are connected to a Linksys wired router and a Linksys AP. I am also experminting with a WAN that reaches to my sisters house down the road. The connection between our houses max out at 24 Mbs.

I cannot say if I am or if I was ever with a govermnet agency. All I can say, if I ever think that I am going to have a unique thought that is outside of the box, I reach for my trusty box of tinfoil and make myself a hat.  Cool

Have a great day, and it is time for me to start getting around for work (enjoy your next few days off b0b...).

Actually Vendex, studies have shown that use of tinfoil hats actually MAGNIFIES brainwave output rather than supresses it...so I'd watch out for that.

I thought I already covered this.

I'm a friend of Bob's from Church.  I'm a computer geek at heart, like some of you.  I'm still stuck at high school, where I attened Schoolcraft High.  I've applied, and been accepted at MTU, and most likely will go there this August.  I try my best at track, and cross country, but pretty much suck at it.

But enough about me.
