Final Fantasy!

Holy flamin' Final Fantasy XIII, Batman!  Final Fantasy XII won't even hit US shores until October 31st, but Squaresoft has released a teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XIII!  Apparently, it's going to have a serious sci-fi bent, even moreso than VII, and it will have a female lead.  As far as I can tell, that'll be the first female lead since Terra in VI back in the SNES days.  Here's the trailer!

http://www.TWNCommunications.Net/Other/FFXIII.wmv

It looks like Final Fantasy XIII is going to be a three game series.  The main title is Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3, with an additional PS3 game coming out later called Final Fantasy Versus XIII which will be an action title.  Final Fantasy Agito XIII is the third title, which is a cell phone game.

Enjoy the pics below!  There are shots from all three games, by the way!

This post made me wet myself.

Oh and btw, the female lead looks like the male leads.  Meh.

If you think that's cliché, you should try reading the super-early story behind Final Fantasy Versus XIII.  It's as cliché as it gets.

Quote:
Part of three Final Fantasy XIII games from Square-Enix, Versus is the story of a young king sworn to defend the last crystal in the world from the "hectic order" outside of his kingdom. It's a fight between ancient and modern techonology, and the struggle of one king to protect the old ways.

It doesn't get much more old-school than that.  I'm guessing it'll change quite drastically as the game progresses, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hey Wes, have you been playing Final Fantasy XII?  I didn't get to Kalamazoo to pick up my copy until Friday night, and didn't get to play until Saturday.  I woke up at 7:30am to drop off my car for some repair work, then spent the entire day playing until 9:00pm.  I realize that might not sound very impressive to some people, but for me, that's really saying something.  I haven't been able to spend an entire day in front of a console game in years!

I didn't get to play at all yesterday, so I'm already going through withdrawals.  The game is really, really good!  Contrary to my fears, the battle system is actually a lot of fun and makes for a smooth, easy, and fun fight.  I really like the real time battles because I've never been a fan of the "invisible" random encounters and the immediacy of the fighting is much smoother than transitioning into a dedicated battle screen.

Anyway, here is a trailer for Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, a game for the Nintendo DS.  This is certainly an interesting departure for Square Enix...

For what it's worth, here's the screen-capped logo.  I'm impressed at how amazing the cut-scenes and in-game footage look with this game.  Final Fantasy III looks amazing, too, but Revenant just looks crazy good!

Here's a copy of the logo that doesn't suck.  This logo and more information can be found at...
