Mr. Cohen has always been relatively anti-piracy.  In the past, he has vehemently stated that he wanted BitTorrent to be used for productive legal implementations.  This wasn't wholly unexpected, especially considering the rumors that BitTorrent.com is going to become a "legal" outlet for movies and music.
