I just got my first house at Megaton.  Much like Oblivion, it looks like you can spend caps to upgrade your place.  Is there any benefit to doing this, or is like Oblivion where it was mostly aesthetic?

As though there aren't enough games to get lost in right now, the demo for Mirror's Edge is also out.  It features the theme song for the game, called - oddly enough - Still Alive.

Good song, but WTF were they thinking when they named it?

Have you guys heard of Quake Live?  It's an official id Software project that looks like Quake 3 Arena, but it is totally browser-based.  I've got to say, it looks pretty impressive.  I wonder if they're going to use a subscription model for it?

I played some Fallout 3 at Briney's this weekend and I'm on the fence with the game.  It's a good visual style and the setting is fun, but I just don't know if it would hold my interest and if the main storyline is interesting enough.  To be honest I haven't followed the main story too far because I usually tend to do every mission and find everything I can.  I might try it out on PC first before I finally make up my mind.

As for Mirror's Edge, it's nice to see game companies try to get away from the "normal" game genres but this game looks incredibly boring.  I saw the demo played and it just seems a lot of it is repetitive.

Interesting enough?  Are you crazy?  You get an opportunity to nuke the main city within the first couple hours of game time.  What's more interesting than nuking Megaton?

Just an FYI for you FO3 players.  I've read that when you complete the main story line it's game over.  You don't get to keep working on side quests and shit like that.

So make sure you handle your business before finishing the main quest line.

wow, good to know, thanks. I hope thats a good sign of a nice epic plotline. Odd that a free roaming open world game would do that.

I've heard the same thing.  That's kinda retarded if you ask me, but I guess you can't have it all.

The PC version of the Left 4 Dead demo is now open to the public.  I started downloading this morning, and I'll post some screenshots later tonight if I get a chance to play.  Have any of you guys tried it out yet?

Considering how addicted I am to Fallout 3 right now, I probably won't spend much time on it for awhile, but it looks incredible!

Wow, yea I played the xbox 360 demo for the first time last night and it was crazy fun.  The zombies are pretty motionless until you make noise or shoot at them, then they run fast like in "Dawn of the Dead". There are a few different more powerful zombies which mix the game up.  I was very bad ass though.  I only played the single player though, isn't there a multiplayer where you can play as the zombie or the human?  It's the best when they are running fast at you and you blast one in the head right before it reaches you.  It's a huge rush.  A must play in the dark game.

I also played the "Mirror's Edge" demo and was kind of disappointed.  The whole city runner thing was popular for about 2 months, now it's pretty retarded.

Mirror's Edge sounded really neat in theory, but the general consensus seems to be that the final product is a bit disappointing.  I'm definitely going to give it a try anyway, but it will probably be a post-Christmas purchase.  There are just too many excellent titles out there that are pushing Mirror's Edge off the map.

By the way, it was 28 Days Later that had running zeds, not Dawn of the Dead.

-b0b
(...thinks both are excellent zombie flicks, though.)

If you are referring to the old Dawn of the Dead then you are correct.  The new one has running zombies.

The running zombies from Dawn of the Dead have nothing on the running zombies from 28 Days Later.  If anything, they're merely "brisk walk zombies" by comparison.
