Apparently, Skyrim doesn't like it when you Alt+Tab out of the game.  Just a heads up.

Anyway, here's a lovely screenshot from the first few minutes of the game.

Skyrim Breakfast Pic!

I was passing through Amish territory yesterday on business, so I stopped at an Amish store in Shipshewana and laid in some provisions for a long weekend of Skyrim goodness.  Breakfast included thick-cut bacon (I like mine a little less crispy) and french toast made with fresh cinnamon bread, real butter and buttermilk, and butter pecan syrup, all from the Amish store.  I washed it down with the best chocolate milk I've ever had in my life.

I picked up my copy of Skyrim on Steam, and Mere bought a copy for the XBox 360.  Here's a quick shot:

Be my guest, Stewie.

Check out the top games list on Steam:

I saw this on Ars Technica.  It's good for a groan:

Skyrim is every bit as amazing as I expected.  The PC port has a crappy UI and irritating keybinding restrictions, but they're a touch better than Oblivion.  The character advancement is much, much, much better than Oblivion.

One thing I've noticed so far is that you're really encouraged to use multiple combat styles (melee, ranged, and magic), whereas Oblivion seemed more catered toward single or dual-style combat.  If you're not playing it, pick it up!

I spent all last night playing this bad boy, and most of the morning before work as well!

They have really improved on the Oblivion model, including removing a few things that were repetetitve and dumb.  Combat is much more fun, and spell casting is actually a blast in Skyrim.  I've spent my time playing as a "mage" so far and am enjoying the challenge.

One thing I will say for sure, the difficulty is much higher here.  I had to kill a group of witches and some sort of demon whore thing...and I kid you not I probably died 15 times trying to figure the fight out.

What types of spell combos are you using?  Right now I'm mostly using dual-hand Flame, but it doesn't seem to be leveling up with me.  I need to scratch around and find an apprentice level fire-based spell.

I was using the "flame-thrower" type spell and frostbite, switching when needed.  I also use Summon Familiar to help get arches and such.

I recently bought Summon Flame Atronoch and Firebolt from the mage in Whiterun.  They are both Apprentice level spells though so they kill my magicka something fierce.  Need to get the Apprentice level perks to use them effectively I'm thinking.

Origin makes my heart hurt.

Here's my character Skyrim character, SkyTim, on the right wearing ridiculously mismatched armor.  My concubine companion is on the left.
